Cornell is in NE part of the City of Markham bounded by 16th Avenue, Highway 407, Donald Cousens Parkway and Ninth Line.
The name was the idea of a local lawyer, Paul Mingay, whose family roots can be traced to a distant relative and founder of Cornell University
